We got a fantastic pitch here, with a panoramic view of the beach and surrounding coastline. It does get windy though, so make sure to peg your tent or awning down tightly. The beach is about 1km down a path, it's quite steep walking back up, especially with surfboards, wet suits, etc. the campsite has a shuttle bus, travelling down to the town/beach every hour. The staff here were very helpful and speak excellent English. The bar, restaurant and shop were good. The prices in the shop were expensive, we thought. The sanitary blocks were very clean. There were a lot of young people from surfing schools camping in a separate part of the site. There was loud music and noise from this section , but this stopped at around 11pm and the site was quiet for the rest of the night.
With spectacular views from the pitches situated at the cliff top and the most accommodating of owners this site has a lot to offer.
Although there is a steep climb up from the beach and shops the site provides transport into Zarautz at regular intervals throughout the day and evening which compensates. The site is actually ideally located with much to see and do. The Tourist info office are very obliging. Besides the obvious places (Bilbao and San Sebastian) spare some time to visit the next town along the coast road, Getaria, an interesting town and birthplace of fashion designer Balenciaga with an excellent museum of his works.
The recently renovated shower block is big, bright, modern and clean. The older block is in need of an overhaul.
This is a busy campsite in high season, and the region attracts a high number of young people. we stayed in July and all was peaceful after midnight.
The local wine, Txakoli (pronounced Chackolee) and pinchos - FANTASTIC!!
This site has amazing views over the sea and is well set out in terraced style. In the off season there is plenty of space. One area is used for over night stays but as we stayed 8 nights the owner carefully chose a quiet area and spread ourselves out over 2 pitches. In high season the pitches would be small and tightly packed. The toilet block is new with plenty of toilets and showers. We loved walking down to the town and along the sea promenade. The walk back is up some very step steps. There are plenty of places to explore and the Tourist information centre in the town was the most helpful throughout our 4 week stay. They even smiled! However, a word of warning. Be sure to check up on the Spanish school holiday dates as there is a custom for hundreds of teenage children to descend on this site and camp in large groups to celebrate the start of the summer holidays. Our toilet facilities were reduced to a shambolic mess and filth. We didn't enjoy the late night noise and music either.
One of the best 'All Year' campsites we've used. Location and particularly the views over the bay and mountains are stupendous. The staff is extremely helpful and pleasant - and all speak perfect English which is a great help particularly in Basque Country. Facilities are excellent and are all open, not always the case in the off season. The site is often used as a night's halt but was also perfect for a week, with so much to see. I'm not sure I would like it so much in high season particularly when the many rather untidy statics are full but would strongly recommend it as an All Year site.
Beautiful view of the bay and good wifi. Restaurant open. Toilet block facilities modern and clean. Reception open all day and for late arrivals. English spoken. Staff extremely helpful in dealing with our flat tyre problem. Very handy stopover entering Spain.
This is a very quaint location high above the Atlantic Ocean near the junction of Spain and France. Our party of four adults faced rainy weather, but the site was impeccably set out and the facilities that we used were of top quality. The people were super efficient and friendly, so this made the bad weather very livable.
I know that I speak for all when I say that we would stay here again and recommend it for anyone passing through, or looking to stay in the area for some length of time.
Beautiful location but unfortunately spoilt by incredibly rude and arrogant staff, very bad service, bad attitudes and will never camp here or recommend this campsite as a result. The staff here have a lot to learn about customer service.
What an amazing campsite. Perched on a cliff overlooking the ocean and the town of Zarautz. The beach and town are 15-20 mins walk down some nicely maintained steps. All facilities were clean and lovely hot showers. Planned to stay for 2 nights and ended up staying for 4 even though it rained most of the time. Pitches nice and soft. Perfect for camping in a tent.
A lovely site with very helpful staff, clean facilities, great views and a good bar & restaurant. All the staff we met spoke excellent English and directed us to the loacal Eroski supermarket when we were leaving. Access to the site is up quite a steep hill but the view makes it well worth the climb.
A very good campsite, well situated for visit Basque country (San Sebastian, Zarautz, Bilbao, Bayonne), in front of the sea. A new toilet and showers building. It's ideal for surfing. A very helpful staff. Good restaurant inside the campsite with traditional food, burgers, sandwiches, etc.
